Teachers' Pension Plan Consultation Meeting: please put this event in your calendar!
The TPP Consultation meeting in Fort St. John will be held on November 9, 2015 at the Northern Grand Hotel from 6pm to 8pm in the Grand I and II Ballrooms. This is an important meeting as the TPP is planning on making changes to the pension plan that will affect you especially if you a beginning teacher or within the first half of your teaching career! If you are in your last 5 years of teaching, the plan doesn't take effect until January 1, 2018 and will have little impact on your retirement money. This change not only will affect teachers but also principals, vice-principals, directors of instruction, assistant superintendents, and superintendents (basically anyone who has contributed to the TPP at any time) so they will be invited to attend this meeting as well. Posters will be given to staff reps on Tuesday, Sept. 15th.It is recommended by the BCTF that members download and read two important support materials prior to the consultation meeting:

New Teacher Induction
See you there!
The 2015-16 school year is well underway!
We would like to welcome both the new teachers who have joined us in School District 60 as well as returning teachers.
This will be another busy year! Enrollment continues to rise - around 140 new students have moved into our classrooms and new divisions have been created. We know how hard you work to ensure the best education for our children and would like to remind you to take very good care of yourselves - stay well at teaching!
We want to wish you a successful school year!
All the best,
Michele Wiebe

Now that we have reached the end of the
2014–15 school year, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the
work that you do to support students, their families and one another.
We are also grateful for how teachers pulled together during our job action and made adjustments to manage the issues caused by a shortened school year. Thanks for being so committed and adaptable!
Working for the PRNTA can be a
challenging and complex job. We are
steadfast in our belief that when our Collective Agreement is supported
teachers are supported. Fortunately, we are all there to support one
another―and with the help of our very capable and dedicated Federation staff,
we are able to defend our members’ rights and make improvements. We will need
to continue to push the Ministry of Education for proper funding and supports
for the new curriculum.
Thank you for your passion and commitment, and for your service to education and learning in our communities.
Enjoy a restful and relaxing summer!
