Facts about leaves:
Sick Leave (G.21) – full-time teachers are able to bank 1.5 days/month (prorated based on % worked) minus the number of sick days used that month.  120 days is the maximum that can be taken in any school year.  Illness includes unavoidable quarantine or accident.  The employer may request a doctor’s note for absences over 3 days.  If you contract a childhood disease (mumps, measles, chicken pox) that is present in the schools sick days are NOT deducted from your sick bank.
Portability of Sick Leave (G.1) – members may carry up to 60 sick days into their bank.  It is the member’s responsibility to initiate the process no later than 90 days of beginning work in the new district.

Did you know? Eligibility for Personal Leave is tied to the number of Sick Days in your bank.  Portability first entered our contract in 2006!  Please contact Michele for further information or help regarding leaves!
